Top Christmas presents are different for everyone. You will find Christmas gifts for him, her, teens and children here. Some are popular in retail stores while others are from the best Gifts for Christmas list from toy fairs and manufacturers.

Teamson Toy Chest

Christmas presents for children are always fun to buy. Some toys spark imagination and interest while helping develop academic skills such as reading or writing. You can find toys that are fun and help your child exercise.

Teamson Toy Chest

The I Can Be Barbie dolls fall into these categories. I Can Be Barbies are dolls made for girls that inspire them to think about career choices they may want to make in the future. You can find Barbie as a SeaWorld trainer, a computer engineer, a chef, or a doctor. They are beautifully made and come at a very reasonable cost so you can buy more than one, if you cannot decide on which one to get!

For younger children, there are toys that mimic an iPad or children's laptop. Leapfrog has the Leapster Explorer Learning game, Fisher Price came out with the children's iXL with a digital reader, art studio and even an MP3 player. These types of games are designed to teach numbers, letters, spelling, and some even have a little life science in some games.

Riding toys are always a hit such as the Radio Flyer classic tricycle. But tricycles are not the only way to ride. You can find pedal cars in the form of a police car, fire engine, and even a pink antique style car! The Plasma Car is a hit with children as it uses inertia, centrifugal force, gravity, and friction to create movement.

The EzyRoller is another ride on toys that combines the control of a bike and the fun of a scooter, according to the manufacturer. Parents like it because it is low to the ground and safe while the kids don't get tired of it.

Looking for Christmas presents for your kids? For teens and families Xbox has come out with the Kinect. This is an interactive module you connect to your Xbox and use your body as the controller. It is brand new and you can play games such as volleyball, soccer and even hurdle racing. Now kids can have fun while staying active.

Playstation has their version called the Playstation Move. This is similar to the Wii game in that you use controllers to mimic the action of the game. You can also play online with friends, download games, movies and more. You can also immerse yourself in 3D games for a total gaming experience.

The best gifts for him usually include electronics and this year is no different. Men enjoy the games such as above, but the best part is that these are fun for the whole family.

Don't forget the sports gifts! Buy him a football jersey from his favorite team. Or put together your own gift basket for game day that includes his favorite drink, snacks, jersey, and even beer mugs or logo glasses.

Other presents enjoyed by men are GPS systems, watches that act as cameras, video phones and home theater units such as the Denon AV-1911 receiver. If you feel like splurging this year, check out the new 3D televisions for a total home theater experience.

Women like to be pampered as well as practical. Many items will be considered as the best gifts for Christmas if you choose right. Be sure to know what the woman in your life enjoys and find something that suits her personality.

Spa gift certificates always make nice Christmas gifts if she has time and enjoys facials or massages. Jewelry excites some women as many times she will not buy such an extravagance for herself. Perhaps your lady is more into electronics in which case a new laptop or cell phone will be a fun gift idea.

Then there are the unique gifts for those hard-to-buy-for people. These can be fun, interesting and exciting for loved ones or a gift exchange.

One idea is the "Wine Rack" for women or the "Beer Belly" for men. Both are worn around the body and you can fill them with your favorite beverage. The wine rack gives any woman a boost in the chest as it hold wine and the beer belly fits around a man's waist and can hold beer or other beverages. Talk about interesting!

More fun ideas for interesting or unique gifts are musical instruments, concert tickets, voice activated robots, or games for the Wii that use the Wii Crossbow controller or the Wii Light Saber controller.

Check the internet for unique Christmas presents and don't forget to browse around your favorite store. According to financial news, the toys stores are going to duke it out this year as they use price wars to get your business. They have overstocked and need to discount so us consumers will benefit this year. But don't wait until the last minute because the top Christmas gifts do sell out quickly.

My Favorite Top 10 Comedy Movies

I have always been a movie fanatic for as far back as I can remember and although I have enjoyed all genres, I especially gravitated to comedy movies for the most part. My father and I would sit watching comedy movies and laugh until it hurt and on Fridays in the summer, it was always a given that my parents would take my sister and I to the Drive-In Theater. (Does anyone remember them?) If it was a comedy, that was a double plus for us. So, for me to say that I love comedy movies would be a vast understatement and for me to make a Favorite Top 10 list is literally next to impossible. In fact, making a Top 20 would be hard enough as it is, but I am going to try anyway. I will cover groups of movies and some solo movies and then try to accomplish my feat for the evening. And although this will be my most difficult task to date, I will most definitely enjoy the memories that these movies provide to me and hopefully for you also.

Teamson Toy Chest

The In-Laws with Peter Falk and Alan Arkin is so funny and enjoyable. The way that Falk's character slowly gets Arkin's character, Sheldon, involved with all of his CIA shenanigans is priceless. A definite must see for those who have never heard of this gem. "Serpentine Sheldon, serpentine!"

Teamson Toy Chest

Let It Ride is one of the most unique comedies I have ever seen, in that, every character is nuts. I mean, in every comedy you have some normal people and then the funny ones. But this movie has no normal people. It takes place at the race track and everyone is a funny character. Richard Dreyfuss is great as Trotter, as he is with every character he portrays. What About Bob?, Moon Over Parador & The Goodbye Girl, to name a few, are terrific Dreyfuss movies.

Since I already mentioned it, What About Bob? is a classic with Dreyfuss and one of my favorites, Bill Murray. I love watching Murray drive Dreyfuss crazy ever so slowly during the course of the movie. 'Baby Steps'. And when you speak of Bill Murray, you have to acknowledge Stripes, Groundhog Day, Ghostbusters, Scrooged and of course, Caddyshack. What a terrific cast Caddyshack had. It was Harold Ramis' first attempt at directing and he did a fantastic job in making what is now a Golf Country Club classic that had so many memorable lines delivered by the irrepressible Rodney Dangerfield. The war between him and Ted Knight was hysterical. "Hey, who stepped on a duck?"

The Producers is a Mel Brooks masterpiece and a screenplay Oscar winner. Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder are so superb in those roles. The idea was to sell much more than 100% of a Broadway play to investors and make sure it is a flop by acquiring the worst script, 'Springtime For Hitler', the worst actors, director, music and anything else to assure a quick closing. This way they could keep the money without paying the investors back. But of course the play is a hit and there is no possible way they can pay everyone back, since they sold about 5000%. So they end up in jail and do they learn their lesson? Nope! They produce 'Prisoners In Love' and sell the warden 200%. While on the subject of Mel Brooks, how can I not list Young Frankenstein, High Anxiety, History Of The World Part 1 and another favorite, Blazing Saddles. The absolute Best Comedy Western of all time, period. Cleavon Little, Gene Wilder, Madeline Kahn, Harvey Korman, Mel Brooks, Slim Pickens and of course, Mongo (Alex Karas). What a blast!

The Pink Panther movies are some of the best works of the great Peter Sellers. Inspector Clouseau had to be one of the funniest bumbling fools to ever grace the silver screen. A Shot In The Dark, The Pink Panther Strikes Again and Revenge Of The Pink Panther were such great vehicles for Sellers. And on the topic of Peter Sellers, how about Being There, The Mouse That Roared and Dr. Strangelove, or: How I Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb. Peter Sellers plays 3 roles in this movie and makes them all so funny and memorable, a tribute to his comedic acting genius.

A Day At The Races with the Marx Brothers would make my Top 5 of all time no matter how long a list I had. I loved the Marx Brothers and this movie is one of my absolute favorites. They were so off the wall and this movie had so many incredible funny scenes. Then you have A Night At The Opera, Monkey Business, Duck Soup and Horse Feathers.

Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein was so great to watch as a kid. Here were the monsters of the times that used to scare us, Frankenstein, Dracula and The Wolfman, and now here they were in a comedy with one of the best Comedy Teams of all time. What a treat! That whole scene with Costello in the hotel room and Lon Chaney,Jr has already changed into the Wolfman. Lou didn't know it and is so close to getting killed. A great comedy effect of anticipation.

Sleeper is a great Woody Allen movie. The premise was he was revived 200 years after being frozen cryogenically. The results were as funny as you would expect from an early Woody Allen movie. Let me also give tribute to Bananas, Annie Hall, What's New Pussycat?, Play It Again Sam, Take The Money And Run and Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Sex (But Were Afraid To Ask).

Monty Python And The Holy Grail is a true classic with so many funny and out of the ordinary scenes. I especially loved the scene with the sword fight at the bridge and the loser has his limbs sliced off one by one and yet keeps insisting that he is winning the battle. Even when he is just a torso on the ground he states, "So we'll call it draw then?" Let's also throw in Monty Python's Life Of Brian and Monty Python's Meaning Of Life. On the side, I must mention that if you ever have the time to see a play on Broadway, then by all means go see Spamalot. I laughed the whole entire play and you don't even have to be a Monty Python fan to laugh your fool head off, as I did.

It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World was the first comedy movie of it's kind. It was the first movie with an all star cast like that. Anyone who was anybody in comedy at that time wanted to be in that movie, even if it was just a small cameo appearance. If you weren't in that movie, you weren't on the comedy map, so to speak. One of the great comedy premises for a movie and an absolute amazing cast of actors, headed by Spencer Tracy. A must see for any generation.

The Nutty Professor and The Errand Boy are terrific comedy performances by Jerry Lewis. I know the word genius is used a lot but Mr. Lewis certainly proves that he is in those two classics. The Nutty Professor remake with Eddie Murphy was fantastic too. A virtual tour de force comedy performance by him with all of his family characters. Plus, I must mention two movies with Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis together to complete his work: The Stooge and The Caddy. "Whose you're little whosie? Whose you're turtle dove?"

Now I would like to write about some comedy movies of more recent times. There's Something About Mary is hysterical with so many unique scenes that have never been done before, and in comedy that is extremely hard to do. The scene with Matt Dillon and the dog is one of my most favorite scenes of all time. I literally fell out of my chair laughing at that one. He accidentally kills the dog and tries to resuscitate him by giving him an electric jolt with the live wire from a nearby table lamp. Ben Stiller has really made a name for himself in the business, which makes sense knowing that his parents are Jerry Stiller and Ann Meara. And when talking about Ben you must mention Meet The Parents, Meet The Fockers and Night At The Museum.

Analyze That with Billy Crystal and Robert DeNiro was great and though it was a sequel to Analyze This, I loved it even more. The scene when DeNiro comes down to the Shiva with his robe open and nothing on underneath was hysterical. "Hey, who do you have to f*#k around here to get some bacon? Not you I hope." Mr. DeNiro, as everyone knows, is a tremendous serious actor, but he delivers comedy equally as well, as he did in Midnight Run with Charles Grodin. They were supposed to make a sequel for that but never did. I wish they had. Other Billy Crystal movies I have loved are City Slickers 1 & 2, Mr. Saturday Night and When Harry Met Sally.

Liar, Liar with Jim Carrey is terrific. But of course, I love Carrey in everything. He is so animated, rubbery faced and one of my favorite comedic actors. I love the outtakes at the end of the movie also. They really show his improvisational abilities well. Then there is Bruce Almighty, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask, Dumb and Dumber, Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas and Me, Myself & Irene.

My Cousin Vinny is a well written and wonderfully acted comedy movie with Joe Pesci, Fred Gwynne and Marisa Tomei. In fact, Miss Tomei won an Oscar for her role. The chemistry between the three of them on screen was terrific, as were all of the courtroom scenes. In the words of the judge, "What's a yute?"

Something's Gotta Give was very funny with Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton. What a great script. I think it should have won an Oscar for Best Screenplay. Of course, you can never go wrong with Jack in the movie. He has such a great face. Even in the horror flick, The Shining, he makes me laugh. The Witches Of Eastwick, Terms Of Endearment, As Good As It Gets, Batman and One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and so many more are such an amazing body of work.

Stir Crazy with Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor is absolutely hysterical and their chemistry together was wonderful to watch. They did a few more movies together and they delivered some belly laughs also. Another You, Silver Streak and See No Evil, Hear No Evil.

My honorable mentions, which would definitely make it to my list if I did a Top 100, are Used Cars, Tommy Boy, Lady In Red, Airplane, Weekend At Bernies, Hooper, Smokey and The Bandit, Animal House, Home Alone 1 & 2, Evil Roy Slade, The Naked Gun Movies, Repossessed, Fire Sale, The Road Movies with Bob Hope & Bing Crosby, Carry On Teacher, Arthur, 10, Cheech & Chong's Up In Smoke, Clifford, Meatballs, The Jerk, The Court Jester, The Inspector General, The Birdcage, Neighbors, Porky's, My Favorite Year, Night Shift, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Seems Like Old Times, Easy Money, Back To School, Kentucky Fried Movie, Bachelor Party, Forrest Gump, Toy Story, Chums At Oxford, Police Academy, Trading Places, 48 Hours, Cheech & Chong's Nice Dreams, Start The Revolution Without Me, Gremlins, Lost In America, Defending Your Life, Modern Romance, The Scout, Cat Ballou, Back To The Future, Clue, Beverly Hills Cop, Weird Science, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Fletch, The Golden Child, Crocodile Dundee, Tootsie, Soapdish, A Fish Called Wanda, Good Morning Viet Nam, Coming To America, Mrs. Doubtfire, Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Edward Scissorhands & Buck Privates.

Whew! As you can see, I pretty much named almost every darn comedy movie ever made but there are so many that I love and I could write about them for a year and not make a dent. And yet, I know that somehow I still may have forgotten some. Anyway, here it finally is:

My Favorite Top 10 Comedy Movies

1. The Producers

2. It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World

3. A Day At The Races

4. Blazing Saddles

5. Monty Python's The Holy Grail

6. Liar, Liar

7. The Return Of The Pink Panther

8. There's Something About Mary

9. Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein

10. The In-Laws

Here is my next 10 if I would have made the list a Top 20:

11. The Errand Boy

12. What About Bob?

13. Analyze That

14. Dr. Strangelove

15. Stir Crazy

16. The Nutty Professor (Both Versions)

17. Sleeper

18. Caddyshack

19. Let It Ride

20. My Cousin Vinny

Well, if I left off something that you would have liked to see on this list...tough. You try to narrow down your favorite genre to a Top 10 and see how far you get. This was definitely the hardest list I ever had to write and the only good thing about it is this: any other Top 10 list I ever write will seem so easy by comparison! Once again, thanks for reading from THE COMEDY TORNADO!!

The Evolution of the GI Joe "A Real American Hero" Action Figure

It all started in 1963 when Stan Weston, a toy creator and licensing agent, saw the success of the Barbie doll for girls. He came up with a concept that could be marketed to boys; a Barbie-like line with a military theme. Don Levine, creative director of Hasbro at that time, was pitched the idea and he approved it. Mr. Levine also came up with the name of the line, inspired by the 1945 movie "The Story of G.I. Joe".

Teamson Toy Chest

The first ever G.I.Joe line was launched in 1964. They had the same scale as Barbie dolls, 12 inches, and there was originally four figures, one for each branch of the Armed Forces.

Teamson Toy Chest

During the following years, G.I.Joe saw a few shifts in the war theme by being re-launched as "The adventures of G.I.Joe", and later on as "Adventure Team" to try to move away from the war theme associated with the Vietnam War. The original line of 12 inches G.I.Joe ended in 1976 in America.

A Real American Hero (1982)

G.I.Joe action figures were successfully re-launched in 1982 when Hasbro produced a smaller scale line of figures to try to compete with the popular Star Wars action figures. The decision to go with a smaller scale also allowed Hasbro to produce a variety of vehicles and play sets to increase the excitement of the line with youngsters.

The smaller scale line was canceled in 1994. A small assortment of figures were released in 1998, exclusive to Toys "R" Us, to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the 3 3/4 inches line.

The Return of the 3 3/4 inches G.I.Joe

It didn't take long after the last anniversary line to see the small figures make a comeback on the shelves. In 2000, Hasbro released a selection of figures and vehicles which lasted until 2002 and were sold in pack of 2. In 2002, the line was now called "G.I.Joe vs Cobra" and each collection from 2002 to 2005 was centered around a theme. After the basic edition of "G.I.Joe vs Cobra" there was "Spy Troops", and then later on the "Valor vs. Venom" theme.

After a brief hiatus in 2005, where Hasbro released another type of G.I.Joe action figures (Sigma 6, an 8-inches action figure), the 3 3/4 figure came back in the form of a direct-to-consumer line, which was available later at retail because of the success with collectors.

25th Anniversary

2007 was the year of the 25th anniversary of the "A Real American Hero" line. To commemorate the event, Hasbro released another collection of newly sculpted small scale figures based on the original designs of many of the most popular characters. The new figures replaced the classic "o-ring" waist with a swivel chest feature and many more increased articulations points.

This new line was a total success, and what was supposed to be only 2 collector set of 5 figures each became a full fledged line which is still running in 2008.

An Excerpt from the Upcoming Screenplay adapted from the book entitled

"Hi, my name is Jose!: Defining America The Beautiful"

A crowd of people screaming as they see the presence of America, the star of the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team as team captain and top scorer that lead the nation to win FIFA World Cup Championship. Soccer fans both men and women waving the flag of the United States of America are shouting aloud "USA! USA! USA! USA! We are the champions. We are the number one". Paparazzi follow America as she is walking in front of the fans and acknowledging their support and patriotism and is followed by her agent who recently negotiated a million-dollar Movie Contract for America to play a lead role in a sports-related Hollywood film.

On the background, America is singing passionately The Star Spangled-Banner prior to an International Soccer Match between the U.S. Men's National Soccer Team and Spain.

Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

6 MONTHS LATER

EXTERIOR - NIGHT

Jose is walking to America. She is a beautiful young woman who has just arrived at Jose's Mom's home in Los Angeles by Sunday, February 14, 2010 for Valentine's Day.

JOSE
(smiling)

Hi, my name is Jose! As you know that was the first English sentence I learned almost 7 years ago when I first came to the U.S. from Honduras. How are you, America?

AMERICA
(exited)

I am doing really well, Jose.
Wow, what a handsome young man in that tuxedo!
You are a Super Star already, huh?

JOSE
(looking at her straight)

Thanks for the compliment, America.
The reason that I am well-dressed tonight is because of you.
In fact, this is the best tuxedo that I have, and I use it only for special events. Tonight, I am having the best event in my life because I am open to fall in love for the first time in my life.

AMERICA
(surprised)

Wow, I just don't have any word to say. I am just speechless sweetheart. You are so handsome. I love your dimples and smile. Your smile is contagious. I am flattered with what you just say.

JOSE
(looking romantic)

America, you are the woman of my dreams.

AMERICA
(quiet and suspicious)

What do you mean by that?

JOSE
(Whispering)

You are the one that I have been praying to God every night for so many years. My prayers starts with these words: Oh Lord, I pray for that Godly woman that you have for me. A woman of noble character who is loyal, honest, true sweetheart, intelligent, smart, hot, and sexy. Oh Lord I pray for the best woman that you have for me. The best in the world. Nothing but God's best.

AMERICA
(Smiling)

Well, I have been trying to contact you for so long but your cell phone is not working. I was about to give up on you because you are not reachable at all. I called you like thousand times. I was glad that finally today I was able to reach you at your mother's home phone number. You are so difficult to get a hold of, Jose.

JOSE

I am taking full responsibility for my personal finances and being financially responsible to pay my phone bills and other financial obligations on time. My cell phone will be reactivated in two weeks. I would be focused as I used when I first came to the U.S. with no words of English in my mouth but with my determination and hunger to learn English by speaking with my beloved neighbors in South Central Los Angeles, going to the Library to study for the ASVAD test and GED to get into the U.S. Army and learn English as a Second Language (ESL) at Los Angeles Southwest College. Thanks for your patience America and I know that we are here together for a reason.

AMERICA

Yeah, I agree that the Lord has a wonderful plan for us. I still remember you when I first met you in Westin Hotel. You made my day with your movie-star looks and effervescent personality. Wow, you have such a beautiful presence Jose. I love your catch phrase "Hi, my name is Jose!" In fact, I have been saying that over and over again and my friends are always wondering why I keep saying that.

JOSE
(Laughing)

Hahahaha. lol. Hi, my name is Jose!

AMERICA
(Laughing)

Hahahahahahaha. You're funny, Jose.

JOSE
(Laughing)

It is a catch phrase. It will be in Hollywood soon.

AMERICA
(Laughing)

I guess you are the new competition of Denzel Washington and Will Smith, huh?

JOSE
(Laughing)

I am just Jose. An ordinary human being from the Jungles of Honduras, a Third World Country. Well, I am very proud of my native country it is a Five-Star Country. That's why you are tonight, I want to make sure that you receive a Five-Star service tonight directly from heart.

AMERICA
(Laughing)

Hahahahaha. Come on and get in the car now, funny boy.

JOSE
(romantic)

Before we get in the car America, I like to give you a surprise for our Valentine's Day today.

AMERICA
(Wondering)

What's that surprise Jose?

JOSE
(surprising her)

I found these most beautiful flowers only for you America.

AMERICA
(Awe)

Awwwwww. Thanks Jose. No wonder people call you The New All-American Boy with your old-fashioned manners and unique American decency.

JOSE
(Walking towards and opening the car's door)

Thanks America for this romantic date.

AMERICA
(Compelled)

I am proud to be here with you Jose. I feel that the same way you do about me. You are also the man of my dreams.

JOSE
(Inspired)

I was just reading a quote by St. Augustine given to me. It goes like this, America. Listen carefully: "Love is itself the fulfillment of all our works. There is the goal; that is why we run toward it, and once we reach it, in it we shall find rest."

AMERICA
(blown away)

Oh my God. what a beautiful quote. Can I have that copy for me to keep reading that quote every day?

JOSE
(humbly looking at her)

Yes, America. Everything that belongs to me belong to you. Here we go and keep this in a safe place.

AMERICA
(Inspired)

Thanks, my darling. You are one of a kind.

JOSE
(Compelled)

America, this is the first time that I feel at rest. I am in love with you. This is the first time that I finally fall in love. When I was four, my father left home. He left my mother with her three children. As you know, I am the eldest. I suffered a lot from that separation. I made it mean that I was worthless. You know, no valuable at all. I tried hard all my life to prove to the world that I am somebody. From kindergarten all the way to UCLA, I was always the school's most popular kid and The Golden Boy being a straight-A student, Super Star Athlete, the most active student in school. I did that just to compensate that I am worthless. Even though I was so well-liked by everyone. I never have the opportunity to establish true authentic relationships with other human beings. I have never have any true romantic and intimate relationship with a woman that truly love with all my heart, mind, and soul until I met you. I was able to complete my relationship with my father and I am still doing my best to complete all my relationships in my life. I want all my relationships to be whole and complete. So I feel free for the first time in my life, America.

AMERICA
(Crying)

Wow, I am honored to be the only one for you, Jose.
JOSE
(Crying)

I am at rest, America. There is no place to go. I do not need any more degrees, awards, recognitions, praise. I do not need fame. I do not need approval. I do not need anything. All I need is LOVE.

AMERICA
(Crying)

You have it now, Jose. You have all my love for you.

JOSE
(Crying)

Come to me, my beloved America.

AMERICA
(Opening her hands for a hug)

Ummmmm. You smell so good, Jose. I love smelling your chest.

JOSE
(Smiling)

Thanks, America. It is gift that my mother gave me. I keep this cologne reserved for the right time, place, and event.
It is a Ralph Lauren. It is the first time I used it just for you, honey.

AMERICA
(smiling)

You are so sweet, Jose. I want to keep you in my hands and hug you forever. You are so handsome and I love your muscular body. You have a six pack, huh?

JOSE
(Humbly speaking)

You know, I have been working out for seven hours a day for my tryout for LA GALAXY and I still have a dream of playing for the U.S. Men's Soccer National Team while I am running my Presidential Campaign for the U.S. Student Association in Washington, D.C. to support American Families of Our Veterans with Financial Assistance with the non-profit organization "Support Our Troops Ranch"

AMERICA
(Smiling)

I know you will. I will keep you in my prayers sweetheart.

JOSE
(Compelled)

You are the Queen of my heart, America. You are the real deal to my life. Come to me my beloved and I promise you that I will give you all I have. All your dreams are fulfilled now because I am here to support you all the way through.

AMERICA
(supportive)

I know Jose that you have many beautiful dreams.

JOSE
(Eloquent)

One of my most beautiful dreams that I have just like all children in the world is to have peace in the world for the first time of human history. I am keeping in my prayers all the world leaders to advocate and negotiate peace just like John F. Kennedy when he negotiated peace regarding the Cuban Missiles in the 1960s. I am firm believer in my beautiful dream deeply rooted in The American Dream that started way back in 1776 that one day, all nations will be at peace with one another fulfilling The America's Promise of Life, Liberty, and The Pursuit of Happiness for all. There will be peacetime for eternity America soon. Our women and men in the U.S. Armed Forces will come back home safe and victorious knowing that there will be peacetime worldwide for eternity America. It is a dream that is coming true thanks to Our God Almighty.

AMERICA
(Inspired)

I am dreaming in your same dream Jose of making peace in the world for the first time in history. I think that is everyone's dream in the 21st Century.

JOSE
(Speaking Spanish)

Paz en el mundo mi amor.

AMERICA
(not understanding what he's saying)

What are you saying Jose? I don't speak Spanish.

JOSE
(Speaking in English)

Peace in the world my love.

AMERICA
(taken)

Kiss me Jose, now.

JOSE
(romantic)

If I kiss you now, America, I will not stop and we will never get to our destination to have a romantic dinner.

AMERICA
(romantic)

There is no destination here. You said it clearly Jose. There is no place to go. The here and now is all there is. Kiss me now, please; like there is no tomorrow.

JOSE
(romantic)

Thanks for hugging me so intensely. I am in love.

AMERICA
(Kissing Jose)

I love you, Jose.

JOSE
(Madly in love)

I love you too America. You are the real deal to my life. You are my Juliet.

AMERICA
(Smiling)

You are my Romeo Jose.

America and Jose are kissing passionately with relentless love.

Important Classroom Control Message for Elementary School Teachers

1 - Pretend your deaf. I know this sounds funny, but oh it works like a charm most of the time. You start to use your hands and point, and you barely whisper, and so on! Teachers, you'll be amazed how much you can communicate and it's 100% engaging, versus verbal directions. I use this at assemblies, I use it in the classroom, and I use it on field trips big time!

When a student is on task I give them a non verbal thumbs up, smile at them, or simply "lip" the words to them, without actually saying the words. They are so engaged in it, that it makes them want to do the very thing you're asking of them asap! Plus, if you're using it as a reinforcer, it is quick, simple, and they love it!

2 - Have a Friday Award and points system in place. Here's how I work this one. I went to Wal-Mart. Maybe you can do the same, and I found these big six inch by ten inch numbers. They were actually used to price items. Well, I conjured up the guts to ask the manager for a few of them. He happily gave them to me. Anyhow, what I do is put those big numbers on the chalkboard, or on top of the chalkboard on Monday. Then everyday, every hour, every minute, I'm constantly looking for good behavior, so I, or a designated quiet student, can change those numbers to go higher and higher.

When the kids reach the number 30, they get 30 minutes of FREE time on Friday. This works well while your teaching because it only takes a second to say: "How many points do we have, how many more do we need for free time?" And the kids are constantly working to get those 30 points! And as a good teacher, I follow through on the positive and the negative reinforcement. If they don't get the 30 points, there is no FREE time, and if they do get it, they absolutely get the FREE time.

3 - Have a Friday present ready every Week. What I mean by this is something my Grandpa taught me. "Good behavior deserves good rewards." My grandpa used to traffic the thrift stores, and before his going home to heaven, he would save a bunch of toys for me to put into a treasure chest. The first year I started using his toys, I had one of the best classes of my nineteen year teaching career!

I simply put the box in front of the class, near my desk, and once in a while, I'd pull out a firetruck, an Elmo, a Scooby Doo Figure, some Hot Wheels, and an occasional wind up dinosaur, and the kids would freak out over it! They loved to see what was in the chest. Well, if the class is good as a whole, everyone, and I mean everyone, even the kids who have been bad, get to choose one present. Why? Because we are a family. But, the same holds true if the kids misbehave, no one gets a toy. See how this might impact your class? The kids don't want to lose their toys! Try it, you'll definitely like this one!

4 - If a child breaks a major rule make sure you give them a major consequence. In other words, if a child hits someone, or defies you, send them to the principal. Nothing is worse than for the kids to see you let a serious offense just slide by. On the other hand, nothing is better than for the kids to see you follow through and lovingly send a child to the office. Lovingly is the key. When I first started teaching I thought tough tones were the best. Over the years, I simply get quieter and treat them like a "nice police officer" explaining at a whisper how they need to go on up to speak to the principal and I'm so sorry that they made that choice."

5 - When you have to call a parent about behavior, put the child on the phone first, before you get on the phone with the parent. I used this both as an Assistant Principal and as a Veteran Teacher. What this does is a couple of things. Number one, when they get on the phone with mom and dad, 99% of the time kids are honest (there are the 1% who lie) and they immediately start crying as I have them explain the rules they broke, by themselves, (after a brief meeting with me discussing why they are making the call) of course. So again, if you put them on the phone first, you eliminate any and all confusion as to why their child is in trouble.

6-Be constantly positive. This is easier said than done in an era where kids are not being trained to obey adults, have very little manners, and many have been raised by T.V. and P.S.P. When I say be constantly positive here are the specifics. Use positive techniques prior to negative ones. In other words, say things like: "Who's paying attention? Who's watching me? Who has hands and feet to themselves?" Instead of: "Johnny pay attention and stop hitting Kelly!"

Simply put, positive works 99% of the time, whereas negative maybe about 50%. I'm amazed at how little negative reinforcement actually works these days. Anyhow, Positive words, encouragement, and positive actions work 99% of the time. I give out stickers, I love to say: "Wow, Amber is on a roll" when they start to answer questions correctly over and over. Our school also has a "Good News" postcard that we fill out as teachers when their reading level or behavior improves! The kids love getting the postcard!

7 - Be Prepared as a Teacher. Be ready to teach. I probably should have put this one number one. Good teaching keeps the attention of your students and your teaching should be innovative, engaging, fun, and animated. Find the activities in the Teacher Texts that engage all learners including your English Learners. Use all of the group activities that are fun, use the extension activities, and projects. Every textbook is filled with fun activities than can be done with the kids, but although I question why, I've noticed many teachers are more concerned with just teaching them the material.

But, as you may realize, giving them useful practice, takes them beyond! For example, I had three of my students with blue shirts and one with a white shirt come up to the front of the class to illustrate the "which one doesn't belong" math concept. Quickly the students said the "one with the white shirt!" I cannot remember one child who was playing around during that lesson.

Good teachers arrive to school early and leave late. I know that sounds basic, but it's so true. By leaving late, I don't mean staying on the school grounds until 5 or 6pm though. Some principals have gone crazy with this one!

I mean arriving to work 30-60 minutes early to prepare, and in addition, planning with your grade level team, instead of planning by yourself, during your one hour of prep time per week. Also, it may mean staying after school for an additional 30-60 minutes per day as well! Remember the 30-60 rule!

8 - Use happy face and sad faces on the board. Simply draw a happy face and a sad face and start putting names on the board. Call me old fashioned if you like, but one of my most skilled mentors utilizes this old method, and to this day, she is still one of the best teachers ever. This is so simple and so powerful and if you do it quickly it won't interrupt your teaching. It works so well when the class starts to get unruly as well, because you simply take your Expo marker and start writing names of those behaving, without saying anything at all, and it really gets their attention.

9 - You've got to have a good signal. One that you like as well as the students. In our class I sing: "Dat, dat, a, dat, dat." And then the class responds: "Dat Dat!" It's to the same tune you hear at the baseball and basketball games, and it's very effective! For many years I tried other teachers' signals and they didn't work for me. Simon says works great for elementary students if you do it while your teaching as well. I.E., "Simon says, eyes forward, hands folded, watching me."

Another signal I use that works every time like a charm is: "These are the students who are NOT watching me, not paying attention, not looking at me, then when I have everybody's attention, I simply say: "Nobody." But if I have one or two talking it gets them every time because they don't want their name said aloud to the rest of the class. The key hear is to really praise them when you notice that now everyone has looked at you, and how that pleases you as a teacher, and ultimately enhances their learning too!

Lastly, remember, you touch the future, you teach! Never forget that. You are quite probably the most important person in this child's life for the year you have them and your impact will benefit them for the rest of their life!
