The fun that can be had by infusing Nerf guns with every day games should never be underestimated. In many households these colorful toys of possibility are often unwrapped as gifts and then fired of for a few days with glee. Before they are lost forever at the bottom of the toy chest however, people can use them to add new dimensions to old games.
Kids have great imaginations. The problem is that most of their activities do the imagining for them. Nerf toys are a safe way for kids to get creative, run wild and burn some good energy. Having a spacious basement, play room or even just an open yard can will give you plenty of room for the little ones to run wild, exercise and improve coordination

On a rainy day you can get your kids involved in high energy activity by rounding them up for a game of War. Divide the children into two equal groups. One team counts to thirty while the other team hides.
Once thirty has been reached, the counting team begins to hunt down the other. To make it even more fun, neon colored weaponry can be used in rooms with black lights. Kids will scream with pleasure for hours when playing in the dark with flashlights.
Birthday celebrations for teenagers and pre-teens can be made super fun by playing in the yard at twilight or at night. With flashlights, or by stringing Christmas lights kids can have enough illumination to play safely. This by far less expensive option than laser tag or paintball parties, and as far as paint ball goes, it hurts a lot less too.
By simply throwing in a few easy props and giving kids a little kick in the imagination games such as Cowboys and Indians and Cops and Robbers can be played while the weather does its worst. Being rained in doesn't have to mean spending hours in front of the television. Kids can use Nerf guns to make old games seem new.
