You might think that the only thing you can do with blocks is stack 'em, but there are so many other fun ways to play with these simple solid squares. You're about to learn 3 super fun games you can play with a basic set of blocks that will spark your child's creativity and have you both smiling and giggling for hours.
Game #1: The Little Architect

Items Needed: Square Blocks and pen/pencil and paper
Number of Players: 2+
Instructions: Decide who wants to draw and who wants to build with blocks. Once that's decided then you begin the game. Start by having the drawer take the pen and paper and draw a simple picture of a building or house or structure, then have the builder recreate the drawing out of blocks. They can do it by either stacking blocks vertically to make a 3D structure, or by laying them flat and creating the image as a one dimensional shape with all blocks lying on the table. Once the first structure is built you can add onto it together or swap positions and the drawer becomes the builder and builder becomes the drawer and you start all over again. This is a fun way to teach your child team work, while also having fun being creative and it's a wonderful way to use kid's toys in a unique way.
Game #2: I'll Huff and Puff and Blow the Stack Down
Items Needed: Square Blocks
Number of Players: 2+
Instructions: Separate the blocks, so that each person has an equal amount. Have each player stack their blocks in a single column, with one on top of another, until all of the blocks are stacked. If they fall, re-do and only stack as high as you can without tipping the block tower over. Once each player has created their tall tower, each player is to stand up and face his tower, then take 5 steps backwards. Then on the count of 3, all players are to blow at their tower to see who can knock it down from that distance. If someone blows their tower down, they're the winner. If no one can blow their tower down from there, then have each player take one step forward and all try again. Continue blowing and moving closer until someone blows over their tower. The winner gets to knock over everyone else's towers. You can also play this game with other kid's toys by stacking stuffed animals and trying to knock them over by blowing or throwing other stuffed animals at the pile.
Game #3: How High Can you Go?
Number of Players: 2+
Instructions: This simple game is amazingly fun and will have you and your child chuckling for sure. Place all of the blocks on the table. Take turns stacking blocks, one on top of the other, you go then your child goes and so on. Keep stacking until one of you messes up and knocks the stack down. It's amazing how funny a huge falling stack of blocks can be. Not only will this game make you laugh, it will also teach your child hand-eye coordination as he or she figures out how to balance each block to keep the stack standing strong.
Final Thoughts: I'd also recommend placing the blocks in the center of the table and asking your child to try and create a fun game you can play using this very simple, yet popular kid's toy.
